Meteorological and Climatological Aspects of Wind Erosion in Bulgaria

Abstract
Meteorological and climatological conditions for dust storm generation are discussed in
the paper: dust storm duration; monthly amount of precipitation during the period
preceding the events; air temperature, humidity, maximum wind speed and horizontal
visibility values. Three dust storm groups are identified in accordance with available
regional synoptic processes. Climatological forecasting of dust storm frequency was
elaborated, based on a Chepil formulae. |
