Over the years, 19 scientists have been associated with the Laboratory. Numbers have varied from 1 in 1947 to a high of 10 in 1967. The number has gradually declined to 4 in 1997. The first supervisor was Austin W. Zingg, a mechanical engineer, and a pioneer in water erosion mechanics.
