Decomposition Tab

The Decomposition tab is used to define:

Residue Size Toughness Class
A flag to set the Residue Class:
• 1: Fragile, very small residue
• 2: Moderately Tough, short residue
• 3: Non-Fragile, medium residue
• 4: Woody, large residue
• 5: Gravel, rock


Decomposition days After which Stems Begin to Fall
The days of decomposition that are required before stems fall from the plant.

Fall Rate for Standing Stalks
The rate at which the stalks fall from the crop, in Number of stalks per number of days.

Decomposition Rate for Standing Stalks
The rate at which the stalks decompose.

Decomposition Rate for Surface (Flat) Stalks
The rate at which the stalks decompose.

Decomposition Rate for Buried Stalks
The rate at which the stalks decompose.

Decomposition Rate for Roots
The rate at which the roots decompose.

Stalk Diameter
The average diameter of the stalks.

Mass to Cover Factor
The ratio of area covered to mass for the crop.

Residue Evaporation Supression Coefficients
The multiplier (a) and exponent (b) coefficients for the decomposition curve.
