Creating New Operations

Creating a new WEPS operation involves starting from an existing operation and rearranging the process order and/or inserting new process and possibly deleting processes. You can also start with an empty operation and add processes.

Creating a new operation from an existing operation

After the operations data is loaded the viewer is in read-only mode and the data can not be changed. Before any changes can be made select the Options item from the main menu and then click the Allow Changes item.

The next step is to right click on the operation name you want to use as a template and choose Clone this Operation. Type a name for the new operation when the window is displayed. If the process order is different right-click on this processes that are not in the correct order, need to be removed or where new processes need to be inserted.

Using the process menu modify the process list until it is correct.

If the file is read-only this menu will not be displayed.
  1. Delete Process - Remove the current process from the list.
  2. Select a Different Process - A window will be displayed that lists the available processes. Select one process to replace this one.
  3. Insert a New Process Before - A window will be displayed that lists the available processes. Select one process to insert before this one. The operation will now have an additional process.
  4. Insert a New Process After - A window will be displayed that lists the available processes. Select one process to insert after this one. The operation will now have an additional process.
  5. Move Process Left - Shift this process one position to the left. The operation will have the same number of processes.
  6. Move Process Right - Shift this process one position to the right. The operation will have the same number of processes.

The last step would be to check the detail process parameters and change as needed. This is done by clicking on the tabs on the left of the main window.

Create a new Operation from Scratch

The steps involved are similar to the above except that the first step is to right-click on an operation name and choose the item Create New Empty Operation. This will display a file window so that the new file can be put in any directory.

The next step is to right-click on the new operation name in the table (it will have no processes yet) and choose the item Set New Operation Type to choose the basic type (Direction and Speed, Initialization, Others). Once the type is inserted you can right-click on the first process and use the menu above to add process and rearrange as needed.
